Prof Karin Jirström



Karin Jirström is associate professor and senior consultant in pathology. She has extensive experience in tissue microarray construction and analysis. At present, she is heading a research unit focusing on discovery and validation of tissue and serum biomarkers of early diagnosis, prognosis and response prediction in all major cancer forms.

Dr Tito Lopes

Tito Lopes has been a consultant gynaecological oncologist in sunny Cornwall for two years having previously been in Gateshead for 13 years.  He was president of the BGCS from 2003 to 06 and is currently a council member of ESGO.

Dr John Boggess


Dr. Boggess is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He is also Fellowship Program Director for Gynecologic Oncology.  Dr. Boggess is considered a "pioneer" of Robotic Assisted Surgery applications in Gynecologic Oncology having presented the first presentation on Robotics in Gynecologic Oncology at the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists Annual Meeting in March, 2006.

Dr Gwen Ferron



An Oncologic Surgeon (Institut Claudius Regaud Comprehensive Cancer Center- Toulouse France) since 1969. Gynecologic Oncology Pelvic surgery Carcinomatosis and HIPEC Soft tissue and abdominal sarcoma.

Prof Sean Kehoe



Prof Sean Kehoe qualified in Trinity College Dublin and came to Birmingham in 1990 as a Research Fellow in gynaecological oncology, followed by training as a gynaecological Oncologist. He was subsequently Senior Lecturer in Birmingham and then moved to Oxford and developed the Gynaecological Oncology Centre , which caters for over 1 million women in the Thames Valley Region. He is Convenor of Study Group for the RCOG, on Editorial boards of BJOG and European Journals, and published widely on gynaecological cancers and pre-cancers. He has lectured for National and International groups. He is Medical advisor/trustee of Ovacome, Council Member of the BGCS and Fellow of St. Peters College Oxford.

Dr Alex Taylor



Dr Alexandra Taylor has been a consultant clinical oncologist at Hammersmith Hospital since 2005.  She trained in the pan-Thames scheme, completing her specialisation at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.  Her research interests include target volume definition and application of new radiotherapy techniques for gynaecological cancer

Prof Jane Maher



Prof Jane Maher trained at Kings College London, Westminster Medical school, Harvard University/ Massachusetts General Hospital  and The Royal Marsden Hospital. She is an experienced clinician, working as a consultant clinical oncologist at Mount Vernon cancer centre, for more than 20 years. Jane’s research interests include the use of complementary and palliative treatments in cancer; long term consequences of cancer treatments and improving the capacity of health professionals to contribute large scale change in health organisations.

Prof Ian Jacobs


Professor Ian Jacobs is the director of Research and Development at the Biomedical Research Centre at  UCLH /UCL for the implementation of excellence in translational research for patient benefit. Ian combines a clinical role as a gynaecological cancer surgeon, with directing a large laboratory and clinical research programme which involves the UCLH/UCL Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre, the Joint UCLH/UCL R&D Unit and UCL Research Deanery

Dr Mary Keogan



Dr Keogan graduated from Trinity College Dublin and trained as a radiology registrar at Addenbrooke's Hospital Cambridge and University College Hospital London. She specialised in abdominal and pelvic imaging during a fellowship at Duke University Medical Centre, Durham, North Carolina. Dr Keogans research interests are in cross -sectional imaging of the abdomen and pelvis and in the applications of new technology such as PET-CT to abdominal and pelvic malignancy.

Dr Linda Sharp



Dr Linda Sharp is an epidemiologist and has led the research programme at the National Cancer Registry Ireland since 2005. After training as a medical statistician in Scotland and London, and working at the Scottish Cancer Registry, she moved to the University of Aberdeen to take up a lectureship in epidemiology. She has a long-standing research interest in cervical screening and HPV, and has been involved in large research studies in this area in both the UK and Ireland. She also works in other cancers including gastro-intestinal, breast and prostate cancer. She is currently leading several large-scale projects on causes of cancer and on the impact of cancer on patients and their families. These include studies of: (a) the financial and economic effects of cancer on patients and their families; (b) the effect of having cancer on employment and workplace experiences; and (c) supportive care needs of cancer patients.

Prof Alessandra Graziottin

Prof Alessandra Graziottin is currently director of the Centre of Gynaecology and Medical Sexology at the H. San Raffaele Resnati in Milan, Italy. She is Consultant Professor at the University of Florence, Italy. As a leading expert and teacher in Gynaecology and Medical Sexology, she has given more than 820 lectures at international and national meetings and courses and has written many papers on the topic.
